Voluntary Cancellation of ERs

Voluntary cancellation allows project participants who hold certified emission reductions (ERs) in the GCA Platform to cancel them on their own behalf or on behalf of third parties. This gives them access to a broader source of demand for ERs in the voluntary market, while making a diverse portfolio of credits available to organizations and individuals wishing to reduce their carbon footprint.

Project participants shall request cancellation of ERs for voluntary purposes by submitting the “Certified emission reductions forwarding request” form and by selecting the voluntary cancellation account as the acquiring account. Project participants shall indicate the purpose and/or the beneficiary of the cancellation.

The GCA staff shall cancel the ERs in accordance with the project participants’ request and shall issue an attestation of cancellation to the project participants, indicating the serial numbers of the cancelled ERs, the purpose and/or the beneficiary of the cancellation as stated by the project participants.
